The MEDEA network continues its academic engagement through the participation of its members in international research events. Adriana Mutu recently presented her work at two conferences focused on digital regulation and platform governance in the European Union.
On April 23, Mutu spoke at a research seminar hosted by the Centre for Competition Policy, part of the University of East Anglia. Her presentation, “Regulating Social Media and Elections in the European Union: Legal Frameworks, Platform Governance, and Electoral Integrity”, examined how EU Member States address risks related to disinformation, electoral manipulation, and foreign interference on social media platforms. The analysis focused on the interaction between key EU regulations—such as the Digital Services Act (DSA), Digital Markets Act (DMA), GDPR, and the Artificial Intelligence Act—and national legal approaches. It also discussed the case of the annulled Romanian presidential elections in December 2024, which led to enforcement action under the DSA and raised broader questions about platform accountability.

On April 24, Adriana also presented at the 4th Corvinus Communication Conference, organized by Corvinus University of Budapest. Her presentation addressed how e-commerce platforms respond to the Digital Services Act, focusing on whether platforms adapt their governance models or resist regulatory changes.
These engagements reflect MEDEA’s ongoing involvement in academic and policy discussions on digital regulation at European level.
