Brussels, 5 November 2025
MEDEA is honored to participate today in the “Evaluation and Review of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD)” Stakeholders Workshop, organized on behalf of the European Commission (DG CNECT) by Intellera Consulting and Technopolis Consulting Group Belgium SPRL.
Representing MEDEA, Adriana Mutu, founding member, has been invited to take part in this high-level workshop, which brings together policymakers, regulators, industry representatives, and audiovisual media stakeholders from across Europe.
The event aims to support the evaluation of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (Directive (EU) 2018/1808), a key legislative framework shaping Europe’s audiovisual landscape. Participants are invited to share insights and feedback that will contribute to the ongoing study and future policy developments.
The workshop includes four thematic sessions:
- Session I: Protection of viewers, in particular minors
- Session II: Prominence of services of general interest
- Session III: Audiovisual commercial communication
- Session IV: Promotion of European works
These discussions play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of audiovisual regulation in Europe, ensuring a balanced approach between consumer protection, cultural diversity, and market competitiveness. The European Commission’s 2026 Work Programme foresees an update of the AVMSD in the last quarter of 2026, which is a crucial milestone for Europe’s audiovisual sector.
MEDEA strongly supports and welcomes this initiative, which fosters collaboration among key stakeholders in Europe’s audiovisual ecosystem and reinforces the importance of inclusive dialogue in policymaking.
