Rome, June 2025 – The Italian media regulator AGCOM (Autorità per le Garanzie nelle Comunicazioni) recently hosted a high-level meeting at its headquarters in Rome, bringing together leadership and members of the International Institute of Communications (IIC) for a strategic exchange on global communications policy and regulatory cooperation.

The meeting welcomed Lynn Robinson, Director General of the IIC, alongside Augusto Preta, President of the IIC Italy Chapter Committee, and fellow IIC members. Participating in the discussion was also Elisa Giomi, AGCOM Commissioner, who reflected on the strength of the partnership between AGCOM and the IIC Italy Chapter in shaping informed and forward-looking regulatory initiatives.
The gathering served as an opportunity to review past activities organized under the IIC Italy Chapter, many of which have been developed in close collaboration with AGCOM, and to chart the course for upcoming events and initiatives. The exchange reaffirmed a shared commitment to addressing the fast-evolving challenges in the media, digital, and communications sectors, from platform governance to data regulation and emerging AI technologies.

The discussion featured contributions from a distinguished group of IIC members, including Adriana Mutu, Enzo Cheli, Sandro Frova, Raffaele Giarda, Francesco Graziadei, Fabrizio Cugia, Erik Lambert, and Antonio Manganelli—all of whom bring expertise to ongoing IIC and AGCOM projects. With growing convergence across communications technologies and policy priorities, the AGCOM–IIC collaboration stands out as a dynamic example of how international regulatory dialogue can inform national action and vice versa. As AGCOM and IIC continue their joint work, the outcomes of this meeting underscore the importance of shared learning and strategic foresight in crafting effective regulation for the digital era.
