DESCRIPTION:On 21 July 2026\, Adriana Mutu\, founding member of MEDEA and Fellow & Expert Consultant at the Media and Journalism Research Center (MJRC)\, will deliver a seminar exploring how academic research can be transformed into expertise and meaningful policy impact. \nDrawing on her professional experience\, the session will examine how researchers can build credibility\, engage with decision-makers\, and translate evidence into practical policy recommendations. \nThe seminar forms part of MJRC’s broader work under the project “Support to Media Reform in Lebanon to Enhance Freedom of Expression\,” implemented together with Lebanese civil society organisations Maharat and Legal Agenda and funded through the EU’s Global Europe: Neighbourhood\, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI). \nThe project’s second phase\, launched in January 2026\, runs until 2027 and focuses on strengthening freedom of expression\, media freedom and information integrity in Lebanon. Its activities include support for media policy reform\, research\, advocacy\, multi-stakeholder engagement and rule-of-law mechanisms.

DESCRIPTION:The EU Digital Markets Regulation workshop took place on 29 November at the Sheraton Hotel in Tel Aviv\, with the aim of explaining to Israeli institutions the role of the DSA and DMA as cross-cutting regulations of online platforms and highlighting the interaction of these horizontal pieces of legislation with vertical sectoral content regulation (mainly EMFA\, but also AVMS and the Copyright Directive). Representatives of European regulators shared their views with representatives of platforms (Google and Meta) and a newly established think tank\, MEDEA (Mediterranean Europe and Africa). \nSally Broughton Micova and Augusto Preta were representing MEDEA at the conference.
