Bridging Academia, Diplomacy & Technology: The First International Spring Academy on Media and Information Literacy Diplomacy (ISA-MILID 2026)

May 12 - May 13

We are proud to announce the First International Spring Academy on Media and Information Literacy Diplomacy (ISA-MILID 2026), taking place on 12–13 May 2026 in Meknès, Morocco.

This landmark global initiative is organized by Université Moulay Ismail of Meknès, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Research Laboratory LaRCIGALS, and the Research Group on Intercultural Communication, Dialogue and Conflict Resolution, in close cooperation with the UNESCO-UNITWIN University Network on Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue (UNESCO MILID Network), alongside MEDEA – Mediterranean Europe and Africa.

Positioned at the intersection of academia, diplomacy, and technology, the Academy aims to advance a human rights-based approach to Media and Information Literacy (MIL). Under the theme “Preserving Linguistic, Cultural and Media Diversity in the Digital Age,” the event will address key global challenges including disinformation, digital rights, AI ethics, and the protection of cultural and linguistic diversity.

This initiative celebrates the 15th Anniversary of the UNESCO MILID Network and commemorates World Press Freedom Day 2026, reinforcing the global commitment to freedom of expression and inclusive knowledge societies.

Special recognition goes to Drissia Chouit, who leads this pioneering initiative as Director of the Academy and Chair of the Organizing Committee.

We also highlight the participation of Augusto Preta, whose contribution strengthens the strategic dialogue between media, policy, and digital transformation across regions.

Bringing together distinguished experts, diplomats, and researchers from around the world, ISA-MILID 2026 represents a major step forward in fostering international cooperation and promoting Media and Information Literacy as a fundamental right for all.
