In February 2026, Joan Barata concluded a new round of professional trainings in Uzbekistan, focused on media freedom and access to information.
Over the course of two weeks, he visited four different regions of the country, delivering specialized sessions for press officers from regional government agencies.
The initiative was supported by UNESCO and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, in cooperation with the Center for Production of Content for Mass Media under the Presidential Administration.
This latest mission marks an important milestone: with this visit, Joan Barata has now traveled to and engaged with stakeholders from all regions of Uzbekistan, strengthening dialogue and cooperation on media governance and access to information throughout the country.
